Zimmermann presents 3 Duos Faciles for two flutes, flute and alto flute, or flute and bass instrument by Diego Luzuriaga.
Born in Ecuador in 1955, Luzuriaga has received prizes in the United States, Italy, Canada, and Ecuador, as well as commissions from various flute ensembles. The first duo, Lamento, portrays longing through large intervallic leaps in the second flute part and a sustained melody in the first part. The second duo, Cantilena, contains haunting dissonances and half-step pitch bends. The third Danzante duo is a short rhythmic work that explores dissonance and syncopation. Suitable for intermediate players.
