Magalif, E :: Xenia
Forton Music presents 'Xenia' for two flutes and piano by Eugene Magalif.
The composer writes about this piece, "This paraphrase on Xenia for two flutes and piano is based on the melody of a song by Vladimir Budnik, a Belarusian composer who died early. The melody is very close to Belarusian folk song and is distinguished by unearthly beauty, lyricism, and sadness. In the original song, the dressmaker girl Xenia sews a wedding dress for a bride for many days and cries because her fiancé was taken away by the sea, and she will never wear such a dress."
