Bruno Mantovani's Appel d'air (Call for Air) is a violent, scrambling fantasia for flute and piano. Unusually for contemporary virtuosic pieces of this ilk, Appel d'air possesses clear (microtonal) lines, careful synthetic harmonic progression, and is well-balanced between the flute and piano part. Gnarly, but recommended for musical players.
