Subito Music presents 'Monolog' for flute alone by composer James Marshall.
The composer writes, ''Monolog for Flute' was one of my earliest formal compositions, dating from Spring, 1971. It, as well as my Quintet for Winds of that time, is influenced by Stravinsky who passed away as these pieces were written. This brief piece explores the luminous tonal quality of the solo flute and juxtaposes the dark low register with the brilliant upper register in contemporary harmonic and rhythmic entities.'
