Revised by Jean-Louis Beaumadier, Leon-Louis Mayeur’s Le Nid or The Nest for two piccolos and piano is a lovely, and melodious duo. Most of the piece is comprised of thirds between the two piccolos, showcasing the harmonious voices of the birds. Perfect for intermediate to advanced players, the musical lines are gorgeous, yet not overly technical. Frequent flurries of scalar and arpeggiated notes in the piccolos are accompanied by a steady, unobtrusive piano line. If you are looking for a delightful encore, this is the piece for you. Mayeur is a prolific 19th century composer.
