ALRY Publications presents 'Masques' for flute choir by Anne McGinty.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, Masques were lavish stage productions designed to entertain the nobility. They consisted of poetry, vocal and instrumental music, dancing and acting, and some had a unified plot. A composition for such a performance also was called a Masque. This work is scored for 1 piccolo, 4 c flutes and an alto or bass part for the bottom voice.
