Gareth McLearnon presents 'Cosmic Dawn' for flute ensemble.
The composer writes, 'First premiered at the Australian Flute Festival in Brisbane in July 2017 - this piece is in two parts - a slow, moody, primordial beginning, where a dark ritualistic, bass (and optional contrabass) flute melody sets the scene with Jet Whistle accompaniment. Then what follows is a super rhythmic and angular groove, guaranteed to energise and thrill the participants as well as the audience! The final section of the piece is without a doubt the richest and most complex flute writing I've undertaken to date.'
