Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for four winds comes to us through mysterious circumstances. Mozart's autograph manuscript, written for a flute, oboe, horn, and bassoon quartet in 1778 Paris and known to us only through Mozart's letters to his father, vanished without a trace - only to reappear in the nineteenth century with different instrumentation and orchestration by an unknown arranger.
Robert Levin, a noted Mozart scholar, here recreates the original solo parts, complete with a new orchestral accompaniment to better reflect Mozart's original intentions. This reconstruction has been a favorite of wind quartets for the past twenty-five years.
Includes the four solo parts and a piano reduction.
