Florentine Mulsant's Envol for flute, op. 56, is comprised of six contrasting pieces emphasizing the different aspects of the instrument.
The first three pieces are written with a melodic mood, the fourth pieces mixes staccato sounds and natural sounds, the fifth builds multiphonics as a recapitulation of the theme from the beginning of the movement, and the sixth concludes the cycle with a luminous, moto perpetuo atmosphere.
