Musicians Publications presents Modeste Moussorgsky s Promenade from Pictures at an Exhibition arranged for woodwind quintet by Bill Holcombe and Bill Holcombe Jr.

Pictures at an Exhibition is originally a work for solo piano which Mussorgsky composed as a sort of program piece. Composing around a set of art works Pictures at an Exhibition begins with a steadily moving Promenade (walking section) in which Mussorgsky depicts himself roving through the exhibition, now leisurely, now briskly in order to come close to a picture that had attracted his attention, and at time sadly, thinking of his departed friend. (Stassov) It is mainly slow because Mussorgsky weighed about 300 pounds. - Carolyn Talarr, 2018
