Drei Sonaten op. 14 [Three Sonatas op. 14]
Naudot, JC
Little is known about the life of Jacques Christophe Naudot, who died in Paris on 25th November 1762. With Jacques Hotteterre, de La Barre, Michel Blavet and others, Naudot was one of the foremost exponents of flute playing during the golden age of that instrument in early 18th century France. His rich compositorial output, divided into 17 series of works, is devoted almost entirely to the transverse flute, except for pieces for Vielle (hurdy-gurdy), Musette (bagpipe) and Flute a bec (recorder), instruments then fashionable in French high society. The Sonatas published in this volume are the first three in Naudot's op. 14, which probably dates from 1735.
