Svitzer's new edition of the Nielsen Flute Concerto has quickly become definitive. A return to the two original manuscripts and the sketches and hand-written parts that were used at the Paris first performance ensures that errors in the flute part present in other editions are fully corrected, as well as allowing a new, improved piano reduction that better conveys the original orchestral texture. The printing quality is also far superior to competing editions.

The solo part contains two staves; the first is the flute solo part, while the second miniature stave includes important orchestral solos and tutti parts to better facilitate the chamber-music interplay between flute and accompaniment. The piano part, aside from changes made to improve the texture and playability, has important solo melodies marked in red to further emphasize the chamber-music aspect of the piece. Also included in this edition is a reduction of the orchestral part for a second flutist, so that a teacher or fellow student might simulate the orchestral part during study.

Additionally, this Svitzer edition contains identical bar numbers and letters to the Wilhelm Hansen edition, allowing it to be used with the Wilhelm Hansen orchestral parts and score.

This edition contains the revised (now standard) 1927 ending to the second movement.
