Nielsen, C :: Koncert for Flojte og Orkester [Concerto for Flute and Orchestra]

Edition Samfundet presents this new edition of Karl Nielsen's Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in a reduction for flute and piano, replacing the famous Orange Edition.

Nielsen's concerto, now a standard part of the international flute repertoire, was written in 1926 for the flutist of the Copenhagen Wind Quintet (the ensemble for which Nielsen wrote his Wind Quintet and his Clarinet Concerto). The concerto - in two movements, unlike the typical three-movement concerto form - is a tour de force for flute, requiring virtuosic and a deep grasp of musical expression.

The flute part of this edition includes a second staff under the solo line which displays the coinciding themes from the orchestra. This aids performers by making them aware of what cues to listen for and prevents them from getting lost or missing entrances.
