Nourse Winds Publications presents John W.N. Palmer's 'Sylvan Suite' for flute choir.
Performance Notes by the composer: While I had already written several arrangements for my flutist wife Anne in the form of wind trios, quartets and quintets, the creation of 'Sylvan Suite' is the honouring of a promise made to her to write an original work for her flute ensemble. Although most of my creative work has been for the brass family, the approach for this suite found me thinking about the substance, wood, hence, the piece's title. The performers are encouraged to invoke thoughts of a forest to conjure up an image of a glade of trees and to think about what might be happening somewhere within that world.
