Pellegrino, M :: Multi-Gammes
Pellegrino, M
Editions Henry Lemoine presents Michel Pellegrino s Multi-Gammes for flute which includes exercises for the movement, agility, and independence of the fingers, as well as the author s knowledge and exercises of the different ranges and modes. While the book is written and published in French, it is still an extremely valuable resource for learning flutists as it includes a plethora of exercises uncommon to other technique books. Such as detailed exercises on tetra chords in the different modes.
We all know that for learning music, instrumental technique and velocity are dependent on relaxation, and the independence of the fingers. The exercises in this work have been specially studied for the acquisition of these two essential elements for musical interpretation. Tested on numerous instruments, they gave remarkable results for the dexterity of those who studied them. They can be used on all melodic instruments, whatever the level of the instrumentalist and his style of music. They bring, in addition to the development of agility and greater velocity, a detailed knowledge of ranges and modes. Work regularly or punctually, they will ensure a certain progress in the mastery of the instrument. After the presentation of the multigammes technique, you will find, to complete the work, some pages detailing the different ranges, and exposing the most useful working techniques. Remember that the keys to your flute are activated by small springs that require very little force to activate them. Your fingers, on these keys or on the holes of the instrument, will therefore have to have the minimum force necessary to produce the notes, and they will have to be precise but very relaxed in order to avoid any tension which would slow down their movements. It is really a disposition of spirit, your flute is the extension of your breath, you must become one with it and relax as much as possible, with a perfect and well-stretched column of air.
