Popp, W :: Staccato-Fantaisie
Staccato-Fantaisie
Popp, W
From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, and transcribed by Denis Verroust, Wilhelm Popp’s Staccato-Fantaisie for flute and piano is a brilliant six minute showpiece. Popp requires sheer brilliance through technical facility, stunning long phrases, as well as requires an overall sense of maturity throughout the virtuosic passages. Like many other virtuoso pieces of that time, it can be played on piccolo: the character of the second part (Allegro vivo) makes it particularly suitable for this instrument. William Popp was a prolific German composer, flutist and pianist.
