This new work for flute and piano is both beautiful and haunting, composed by Tanzanian-born composer Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke. The Fantasy is a conversation between piano and flute and shifts easily from tertial to quartal to chromatic to whole-tone harmonies, and suggests the planing texture often found in Impressionist music. The eloquent melodies, rubato tempi, and frequent meter changes create a wealth of opportunities for the expressive flutist and pianist to shine.
