Prometheus for flute quartet (piccolo, c flute, alto flute, and bass flute) was named after the mystic chord of Alexander Scriabin, used in the quartet as harmonic and melodic material. A motif is developed among all the instruments, creating phase 'games' of rhythm between each instrument that leads to a section of suspended chords and small solos between each other (almost like a dialogue). The first motif then reappears but, instead of being developed, retrogrades and disintegrates until the very end...
