In the U.S., this hornpipe is most commonly known as the opening theme to classic Popeye cartoons. Across the pond, it is more closely associated with the British Navy. On Last Night at the Proms, the hornpipe begins in stately fashion, gaining speed with each repetition, while the audience tries to keep up on flutes, pipes, and party horns that they've brought for the occasion. The hornpipe has brought us joy for centuries, and Thorne has artfully transcribed it for two different groupings of flutes. One part after another has a turn with the melodic line, which is then layered over multiple instruments. But then Thorne tosses Rule, Brittania into the mix for a stirring effect.
This arrangement is for eight-part flute choir: 2 piccolos, 4 flutes, alto flute, and bass flute.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
