Reinecke, C :: Ballade op. 288
Ballade op. 288
Reinecke, C
Carl Reinecke wrote his Flute Concerto in D major, op. 283 in 1908, at the age of 84. The nostalgic, serene and elegiac Concerto is perfectly suited to the expressive possibilities of the instrument. It is as much part of the repertoire as the present Ballade for Flute and Orchestra, op. 288, which - after an immense output and following the Concerto - was the master's swan-song. The work's sweep is ravishingly beautiful! The sources for our new edition were the first print of the score and the composer's own piano reduction.
