Reinecke, C :: Undine Sonata op. 167
Reinecke, C
Susan Milan presents this edited edition of Carl Reinecke's Undine Sonata, for flute and piano.
From the editor:
'Considering Reinecke s meticulous academic training, I was always mystified, as a performer of his Sonata Undine, by the lack of musical directions, such as expression marks and metronome indications, and by the inconsistencies in the work with regard to phrasing and dynamics. Before recording it, I carried out some research into its origins, to try to gain more information and a truer perspective of the music. I was delighted to discover what I believe to be the first known edition of the work, which was published in 1882 by Rudall Carte & Co. in The Flute Player s Journal, First Series; Rudall Carte was absorbed by Boosey and Hawkes in 1955. It is this edition that was used as the basis for the present publication.'
