'The Barber of Seville' is considered to be the opera buffa of all 'opere buffe' and Rossini's masterpiece. This arrangement allows for performance as either a quintet or, with the addition of one more flute with an additional included part, a flute choir (sextet). In both scorings, the alto flute and bass flute (or bass instrument) are necessary and cannot be replaced with all C flutes.

Instrumentation: 3 (or 4) flutes, alto flute, bass flute.
