Le Fils des Etoiles (The Son of the Stars) was first composed for flutes and harp by Erik Satie in 1891 to accompany a three-act poetic drama of the same name by Josephin Peladan. The original work is seventy-five minutes long and represents his longest through-composed surviving score.
This arrangement for solo flute and harp by Toru Takemitsu is a beautiful abridged version that perfectly combines Satie's luscious French-Romantic style with Takemitsu's Western influenced-Japanese style.
