Schott Editions presents 'Portraits' for flute/bass flute and piano by composer Fazil Say.
'Portraits' op. 101 for piano and flute by Fazil Say consists of eight portraits of valuable figures who have left a mark on the composer's life and who have shaped and contributed to culture, art, and literature in Turkey.
'While painting these musical portraits, Say characterized them in his music by expressing their character, stance, sophisticated personality, creation, and work of each person in their own life. The sometimes sad, moving, proud, energetic, lively, or static main texture in these portrait reflections are accompanied by sometimes Anatolian melodies and other times Turkish classical music. In some cases, the music is enriched with Balkan motifs or jazz melodies with Turkish textures.'
