Peter Senchuk presents the Cajun Sketches for flute ensemble.
The Acadians ('Cajuns') were early French colonists who began settling the Canadian Maritime provinces. As the British won power in the region, the Acadians were deported from eastern Canada and ultimately settled in their present home of Louisiana. This is the story of their journey.
In four movements:I. Maritime Winds - a textural section representing the winds and waves that brought the settlers across the Atlantic to 'New France'.
II. Au Chant de L'Alouette - the opening melody of a well-known Acadian folk song.
III. Scattered were they, like flakes of snow - a sorrowful tune about their deportation and loss of homeland (words from Longfellow's 'Evangeline').
IV. La danse de Mardi Gras - the finale, based on a lively Cajun folk song.
Instrumentation: 4 flutes (second doubling piccolo), 2 alto flutes, bass flute, contrabass flute.

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
