Larry AlanSmith wrote this jazzy flute quartet for fun, interspersing a spoken phrase periodically within the music. In March 2016, Camerata Musicale Sulmonese (Sulmona, Italy) honored Italian composer Smith with a day of performances of many of his works, including Scat for flute quartet. Utilizes swing, speaking and playing, and a rhythmic jazz ostinato to create a riotous and playful piece.
