Nourse Wind Publications presents 'Somewhere Bluebirds Fly' for flute choir by Erin Spencer.
The composer writes, 'The theme for 'Somewhere Bluebirds Fly' is based on the melody 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.' Bluebirds are symbols of joy and hope, as well as a connection between the living and the dead. I chose the title 'Somewhere Bluebirds Fly' to represent a place we can find hope if we look closely, even through our grief.'
Premiered by the LGBTQ+ Flute Choir at the 2023 National Flute Association Annual Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, under the direction of Kelly Via. Dedicated to Club Q and the victims of the anti-LGBT-motivated mass shooting that took place in November 2022.
