Sousa, JP :: The Stars and Stripes Forever
Publisher: ALRY Publications
ALRY Publications presents 'The Stars and Stripes Forever' by John Philip Sousa, arranged for flute choir by Matt Johnston.
The composer writes about this piece, 'The Stars and Stripes Forever' is one of the most famous and enduring American patriotic marches, composed by John Philip Sousa. Often referred to as 'The March King,' Sousa was a composer and conductor known for his military and patriotic marches. He composers this work on Christmas Day in 1896 and it receives its first performance on May 14, 1897, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Philadelphia Academy of Music.
Having made an arrangement of this many years ago for clarinet choir, it only seemed fitting to create an arrangement for flute choir. And as the two arrangements are in the same key, it is possible to play them together with a massed flute and clarinet ensemble.
