Sousa, JP :: The Washington Post
Publisher: ALRY Publications
Editor: Johnston, Matt (arr)
ALRY Publications presents 'The Washington Post' by John Philip Sousa, arranged for Flute Choir by Matt Johnston.
The Washington Post March by John Philip Sousa is one of his most famous marches, originally composed in 1889. It features a jaunty melody, crisp rhythms, and a strong, compound-meter (6/8) beat that became synonymous with Sousa’s signature style. Originally commissioned by The Washington Post newspaper for an essay contest awards ceremony, the march quickly gained widespread popularity.
