Schott's collection of John Stanley's 'Vier Sonaten' [Four Sonatas] op. 1, Vol. 1 for flute and basso continue includes an optional part for cello or other basso instrument as well as a fully realized piano part. John Stanley (1712-1786) was a composer of the Classical era; as such, these sonatas embody the classical ideals of charm, accessibility, and optimism. They are perfect for beginning to intermediate level flutists, but can be enjoyed by musicians at any level. Volume 1 contains Sonata Nos. 1 in G major and 2 in G minor.
