Stepalska-Spix, J :: Neujahrs-Swing
Zimmermann presents 'Neujahrs-Swing (New Year's Swing)' for two flutes by composer Joanna Stepalska-Spix.
The composer writes, 'New Year's blues... that's a feeling of depression, disappointment, melancholy, and low spirits that some people experience after the festivities at the turn of the year.
'New Year's Swing... this is the piece that is intended to work in exactly the opposite direction. The composition in D Major was written shortly before New Year 2025. After a calm introduction, which has a slightly improvised character due to the melody, the swing part begins and, with its relaxed jazz character, is intended to get people rocking, bobbing, swaying, and dancing. The whole composition can be played with an easy nonchalance. May it bring every flute duo and all listeners good wishes for the New Year as well as good spirits and enjoyment while playing and listening!'
