Don Stewart presents Life Slices, op. 4, for flute and piano. Each section of the work is in a somewhat different style, although serial techniques are used throughout. Elements of jazz styles are more or less prominent; a successful performance will emphasize this aspect to whatever degree the performers feel comfortable.
