Stone, J :: Arbor Awakening
Emerald Rock Publications presents 'Arbor Awakening' for two flutes by composer Julie Stone.
The composer writes about this piece, ''Arbor Awakening' was inspired by the morning wake up calls of birds in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan. As a flute professor at Eastern Michigan University, I try to get to school early so that I can warm up and practice before my teaching begins. As I depart in the early morning and arrive at school, I hear many different birds waking and singing their calls. This piece is based on several bird sounds I generally hear that incorporate fourths, minor thirds, scoops, and percussive sounds.'
