ACA presents "Fire Diamond" for flute, clarinet, and piano by composer Roger Stubblefield.
This tone poem is based on the story of the Fire Diamond, a legendary stone found at the peak of the Chomolungma mountain in Tibet. It begins when a seeker reaches the summit and approaches the stone to the sounds of a royal fanfare. The shimmering sunlight leaps and dances like a Polonaise until the seeker falls into profound stillness. After episodes of enlightenment, fear, wisdom, and indecision, the seeker ultimately embraces the Diamond's gifts.
