Dia Succari's Sin, for flute and piano - an enormous two-movement structure, with extraordinarily dark textures and ideas.
The first movement, Paysage d'avant les sables [Landscape from before the sands], opens with hugely-spaced piano chords and a thick, crawling flute line that soon evolves into a leaping, rhythmically-driven perpetuo with quasi-recitative interludes.
The second movement, Chant sacre [Sacred chant], is an almost Egyptian dance against rhythmic piano that flows into virtuosic variations. Echoes of Ibert and Jolivet appear throughout.
