Taffanel, P :: Sicilienne etude op. 7
Sicilienne etude op. 7
Taffanel, P
From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, and transcribed by Philippe Bernold, Paul Taffanel’s ‘Sicilienne etude’ op. 7 for flute and piano was composed in 1885, and is a piece of great delicacy. Bernold states, "The style is similar to that of his friend Camille Saint Saens, but the harmonies have Wagerian colours. Special attention should be paid to embouchure and velocity (especially in the middle section). But the main difficulty lies in mastering perfect breathing technique."
Paul Taffanel, ‘Founder of the French School of Flute Playing’ was a beloved French composer and flutist of the 19th century.
