Tchaikovsky, PI :: The Nutcracker
Mary Jane Rupert presents Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, arranged for flute and harp (or piano).
This arrangement includes all of the pieces from the original Suite op. 71a, except the Overture. Each piece adheres as closely as possible to the original orchestration in terms of key, harmony, register, and color, and as closely as possible to the original length and structure; in short, these transcriptions are the closest thing to the full suite for flute and harp (or even for flute and piano) that exists. The harp part includes complete pedal changes, alternate fingerings, and the full cadenza in the Waltz of the Flowers.
The professional, the student, and the amateur should all find uses for these pieces: as encores, recital pieces, and as part of the repertoire for more informal musical occasions.
