The works of Telemann are numerous and the flute is frequently used as a solo instrument, in concerti, sonatas, etc...The 12 Fantasias’ for Flute without bass are written in the style of studies, treating the problems of intervals and tone production. These problems solved, lyricism and the character of a dance suite develops. It is interesting to note the evolution of concept, style, and architecture form one Fantasia to another. Charm and virtuosity are marvellously exploited. Telemann is prolific composer and multi-instrumentalist of the early 18th century.
