Niimi, T :: The Soul Bird
Tokuhide Niimi presents The Soul Bird for flute and piano. 1996.
From the composer:
'The idea of a bird representing flight, and embodying the concept of a soul, is a frequent one. A single life - a single soul - lives upon uttered sound in the air; floating, dancing, and then flying off into the cosmos. I understand music to be a collection of such sounds that move through the air and sustain flight, with this piece a realization of this concept. The harmonic sounds created by the piano give life and flight to the sounds of the flute that later emerge, throughout the single movement of my work.'
Duration: 11:00. Score only. For advanced players.
