This piece was commissioned by the International Low Flutes Society and was premiered at the 2025 Annual Convention of the National Flute Association in Atlanta, Georgia. In this florid setting by Kelly Via of a quiet and haunting Celtic folk tune, By Kells Waters, in the Dorian mode, this melody is first featured in the bass flute, followed with many lyrical lines shared throughout the ensemble. An excellent piece for a meditative moment on your program as well as for developing ensemble blend, tone and balance. It should be noted that this version is in a different key than the original for flute choir, thus they are not compatible and cannot be performed together.
