Souvenir Anglaise op. 50
Tulou, J-L
"Souvenir Anglaise Fantaisie for two flutes and piano op. 50 published by Broekmans van Poppel
In the ranks of European virtuoso flute players from the first half of the nineteenth century, Jean-Louis Tulou was widely regarded as having the most refined musical taste and the most beautiful tone of all...he entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1796, [and] he went on to study with Wunderlich and, at the concours only three years later, he was awarded the second prize; the following year the first prize was withheld from him only because the jury considered he should continue his studies.
Souvenir Anglais was prompted by one of Tulou's journeys to England in about 1817 and 1821 and in 1829." - Stephen Preston
