Two Flutes Are Better Than One! is a collection of 50 flute duets designed for teachers, students, church musicians, friends, and gigsters who are unable to hire, transport, buy, or tune a piano. Vance has simply created a second flute part to substitute for the pianist. The second flute is the band, and the first flute is the singer. Teachers can now accompany students on a variety of pieces from a Telemann sonata, a bluesy rendition of Amazing Grace, or even harmonized scales. Who recitals can be built around this book, or players can be rehearsed before meeting with an accompanist. Wedding musicians are catered to, because a flute duet is more affordable than a string quartet, and we all have friends, or advanced students, wanting to play who know someone getting married. Church musicians are targeted, because where else do people regularly dress up, sit quietly and listen to you perform in great acoustical spaces?
The CD is primarily designed for listening. Who wants to hear 'Here Comes the Bride' except on their wedding day? It is recorded in stereo, so soften one channel to play along.
