Fried Walter's Bird of Paradise, originally for flute with string orchestra and harp, is here presented in a reduction for flute and piano.
Reminiscent of Hanson's Serenade or Griffes' Poem, Walter's Paradiesvogel begins with a quiet, reflective opening lingering on prolonged impressionist harmonies. The piece develops the delicate melodies presented at the opening with thick chords and the flute continuing to soar above.
Duration: 12'30. For the late intermediate to early advanced player.
