Ann Wiggins and Paul Cozens presents the Keys to Success - duets for two flutes.

As woodwind teachers of many years' experience, we have been frustrated by a lack of pieces for pupils to play in the keys that they are learning. With that in mind we have written this book of duets, covering all major and minor keys up to two sharps and two flats, A Major and some chromatics. We hope that this will help pupils remember the key finger patterns that are so essential to playing an instrument fluently. The duets can be used as a back-up for scales, as sight-reading practice, or played through just for fun. They can be played in lessons with a teacher, at home with family and friends, and used for group teaching.

Each section has short finger warm-ups which highlight the notes that are particularly important for each key. By alternating between tunes, warm-ups and scales, we hope students will be helped to make the important connection between memorising finger patterns and playing pieces more fluently.

We have grouped the duets into key families as we thought it really important for pupils to understand the link between minor keys and their relative majors. The book starts in C major but the tunes can be used in any order.
