The arranger writes about this piece, ''Little Brown Jug' is a fun and jazzy song that will be used for many years to come. The arrangement needs to be played using swing eighth notes, in order to obtain the jazz feel. I have written a swing jazz chorus similar to that of a sax section in a big band. Additionally, chord symbols have been added above a written solo on part one. This was done in case someone would like to play their own improvised jazz version.
'This arrangement is usable as a quartet or quintet. The fifth part can be considered optional. I am certain directors, musicians, and audiences will find this arrangement very pleasing as well as an entertaining addition to the flute ensemble repertoire. Enjoy!'
