Ysaye, E :: Obsession
Edition Peters presents "Obsession" for flute alone by composer Eugene Ysaye, arranged here by Helene Schulthess.
Eugene Ysaye's second sonata "Obsession" begins by quoting the well known opening measures of J.S. Bach's "Partita in E Major, BWV 1006." Ysaye then introduces the age-old Dies Irae sequence from a medieval Requiem Mass with great impact throughout the work. Helene Schulthess adapted the first movement of "Obsession," which has no double stops, for the flute. The arrangement was first played publicly on 19 October 2014 in the Giacometti Halle in Zurich.
