Incantation "...Pour que l'image devienne symbole"
Jolivet, A
Andre Jolivet’s Incantation for solo alto flute is lusciously warm. This solo is reminiscent of streams of thought, or perhaps meditative contemplation. Approximately three minute in length, the entire range of the flute is showcased. Although slow in tempo, the counting is advanced, dynamics range from extremely soft to loud, and techniques such as flutter tonguing and portamento appear within the texture. This piece is an essential addition to any flutists library. Jolivet is a beloved 20th century French composer.
