Arranged by Bernard Boetto, Jacques Offenbach’s Souvenir De Reveillon Galop, or New Year’s Eve Souvenir, is extracted from an interlude of the ‘Grand Duchess of Gerolstein.’ Intermediate in difficulty, this showpiece is just over three minutes in length. Souvenir De Reveillon showcases fun interplay between the piccolo and the piano. Frequent trills and flurries of scalar and arpeggiated notes in the piccolo are accompanied by a steady, unobtrusive piano line. If you are looking for a delightful encore, this is the piece for you. Jacques Offenbach was a prolific composer and cellist of the 19th century.
